Fans of the Mark Burnett and wife Roma Downey’s “The Bible Miniseries” were already excited regarding the new film about the life of Jesus, “Son of God,” being released nationwide this February. But NBC has just announced their new collaboration with Burnett and Downey that will be a follow up to the miniseries that sparked record-breaking ratings for The History Channel last spring. “A.D.” will portray the events that occurred after the Crucifixion of Jesus.
NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said, “”In the first episode alone you see the last moments of the Crucifixion, Judas taking his own life after betraying Christ, Peter denying Jesus three times, and then the miracle of the Resurrection. We feel so fortunate to be in the hands of Mark and Roma, who have proven that the greatest story ever told is still just that.” “A.D.” is set to premiere in the spring of 2015.
It’s become more and more evident that the public in the United States and viewers of American television worldwide have fallen in love with real life heroes. For this very reason, Christians should take note of the growing interest in seeing the life of Jesus portrayed accurately on the big and silver screens. Perhaps the hunger to see a man live the life God intended for him will transcend the movie theaters and televisions and grow to involve those who will demonstrate and portray the life of Jesus in real life. “Son of God” and “A.D.” will be hitting theaters and televisions throughout the next couple years; but fortunately for those waiting to see the film and TV miniseries, followers of Christ around the world have the opportunity to demonstrate the message of the film in person.
